World AIDS Day Observation at GCTE – Awareness Assembly & Rally

On December 1, the Natural Science Association GENESIS of GCTE organized a meaningful World AIDS Day program to promote awareness and empathy regarding HIV/AIDS. The assembly began with a prayer by Sneha (I B.Ed.), followed by an informative session by Sandra and Amrutha (I B.Ed.), who explained HIV/AIDS, its transmission, symptoms, detection, treatment options, and the need to overcome stigma.

Devendu further discussed the significance of the Red Ribbon as a symbol of solidarity with people living with HIV/AIDS. Dr Rajashree (Associate professor) then addressed the importance of observing World AIDS Day and briefed the students about the upcoming rally. Red ribbons were distributed, and students were guided on how to wear them correctly.

After the assembly, teachers and students joined an awareness rally carrying placards prepared by different departments. The rally covered the route from the GCTE ground through Thycaud Road, Mettukada Junction, Keezhu Thampanoor Road, Gandhi Bhavan, and back to the campus. The event concluded with refreshments.

The program effectively spread awareness, encouraged compassion, and reinforced the importance of continued education and stigma reduction in society.
